The 2010 Edition of the JTH Ride and Vet Fest is in the books. We cannot thank all the folks who came out and enjoyed the ride and festival. We know by ticket sales at the event gate that around 2,500 people attended just the festival and we had apx 125 bikes that made the ride. Hope they enjoyed taking off under the crossed ladder trucks from the Lexington Fire Dept.
To all of our Vendors we thank you for attending an event in which no one was guareented a thing and hope you will be a part of next years event.
We were blessed with Josh's Family and many of his Navy Seal buddies in attendence and were a special part of the Memorial Ceremony. Believe me there were alot of tears, of sadness and also of joy. A special thanks to Sam and Evelyn, KiKi and Ranchor and your families for allowing us to be apart of your and Josh's life! You are our inspiration. Unofficial total raised for our Charities is $5,640.00. The founding members, Steve Garwood, Mike Yarborough and Jack Waters Jr., and all the volunteers have become a family through this event and I want to tell all who attended, rode, bought a ticket, tshirt or sponsored or were a vendor, you are now a part of the JTH Ride family. Check out the pics page as we will be posting as we get them, if you have some please share with us just send them to the email info@jthmemorialride.com.
Thanks to all, Jack Waters Jr. Event Director 2010
Josh Harris exemplefied perserverance. From his days as a football player at Lexington High School, as an artist while living in New York City to his decision to become a Navy Seal at the age of 27. His first attempt was unsuccesful so he moved back to NC and trained harder. Despite being at the edge of the cut off age limit, Josh secured a waiver and began some of the toughest military training in the world. Josh survived the grueling training and actually excelled. Joining Seal Team 10 he earned the Bronze Star while serving during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Josh did not seek recognition, but was a highly decorated member of the Navy Special Warfare Development Group. Special Warfare Officer First Class Joshua Harris died while conducting a combat river crossing in Afghanistan on August 30, 2008. Because of so many before him and since we are able to enjoy the freedoms that we so often take for granted. We, the founders of this event are determined that the memory of Josh be kept alive and celebrated. We hope that this event will help in some way to honor Josh and all the veterans of all the wars of this great country.
